On Saturday 25th April, a group of Elmwood children proudly took part in the Mini Marathon, showing incredible determination, enthusiasm and team spirit. The children represented our school brilliantly, tackling the course with energy, resilience and big smiles from start to finish. It was wonderful to see them challenging themselves, supporting one another and embracing the excitement of such a special event. We are incredibly proud of all the runners for their fantastic achievement and for demonstrating our school values so clearly. Well done to everyone who took part!
Our sports captains took part in a special visit to Selhurst Park Stadium (home of Crystal Palace FC). During their visit they received sports captain training and enjoyed a guided tour of the stadium. It was a fantastic experience for them to develop their leadership skills and learn more about the home of Crystal Palace FC!
The Elmwood Morning run club meets every Thursday at 8am – rain or shine – bringing together 14 Year 5 and 6 students to build endurance, speed, and running technique. Sessions include laps for stamina, sprints for speed, and drills to improve running form – all within a supportive, encouraging environment where teamwork and friendship thrive. Our athletes are preparing for events in 2026, particularly the Croydon Athletics Championships in July. Their progress and dedication have led to the launch of an additional after-school group on Wednesdays from January, giving more pupils the chance to experience the fun, friendship and pride that the athletics squad brings to Elmwood.
